It was my friend's birthday celebration and since no one other than me frequents downtown I was in charge of dinner reservations. There were 5 of us going to the Pittsburgh Symphony for a sold-out show so I called to make a reservation weeks prior to the event. When we arrived on Saturday night we were told we did not have a reservation (turned out they had us in for the wrong night). The manager was nice but the only dinner option they could offer was sitting on couches in the lounge. She did offer our group a round of drinks and an appetizer. I have to say, although I did appreciate the offer of drinks etc, it is highly disappointing to plan a night out and have to order a $20+ entree to hold on your lap and eat. In addition, I made it known to the Server and Manager that it was my friends bday and neither acknowledged it. I have never been to a place where they didn't acknowledge a bday and at least bring a scoop of ice cream or something for the person. The food was ok and when we received our check we were charged for the "free" appetizer and had to then ask for it to be taken off. We made the best of it but will go somewhere else next time.
