I'm not really sure when Good Earth became almost as ubiquitous as Starbucks in our fair city. It's a bit of a shame, as the original Good Earth had a lot of homey charm that was stripped away during it's renovation last year.
This Good Earth (in the Sheldon Chumir building) follows that predictable formula to a tee. I end up working here frequently in between meetings so it's nice that I know what to expect, but I always seem to struggle in terms of what to order to justify occupying a table.
The Pumpkin Spice muffin is a tasty winner, but if you like your waistline it's best enjoyed infrequently. Ditto for the Seed Roll (a sticky bun with 'healthy' seeds sprinkled liberally on top).
This location has free wifi, which I suppose is it's most redeeming quality. But, like the previous reviewer has mentioned, Kawa is just blocks away and offers a far superior experience.
I've been to this Good Earth many times, usually mid afternoon. It seems like they never have enough people on staff when that 3pm coffee/sugar rush hits as it's not uncommon for me to wait 10 minutes before I can place my order.
Avid people watchers will enjoy the large windows and transient population in the adjacent park or walking along 4th Street. I like to play a game called "What is that person's name?" where you try to guess the name of people as they stroll past you. Though the game is really more fun when you have a co-conspirator with you...otherwise you're just the creep staring at people and mouthing stuff.
