| - Out of 50+ different ice cream and gelato shops that I have visited throughout the years, Kekou Gelato is hands down one of the best gelato shop I have EVER visited. What makes this shop so special? It is pretty simple - flavors were ABSOLUTELY on the point and texture excellent considering Kekou Gelato doesn't use any stabilizers. Heck - I like their gelato so much that I actually visited here TWICE during my short visit in Toronto.
Originally I was planning to visit Bang Bang Ice Cream and bakery, but the ice cream shop was somewhat off the way and I decided to search for a different ice cream shop that's within walking distance. And you know what, that was one of my best detour decision I have ever made.
Unlike most other ice cream / gelato shops, you actually need to pay first before you get to try samples. This place specializes in Asian inspired flavors such as HK milk tea, Vietnamese coffee, oolong tea, jasmine tea, green bean coconut, red bean white chocolate, etc. CAD $3.75 for one scoop and CAD $5.75 for two scoops. I sampled several flavors (HK milk tea, jasmine tea, and oolong tea) and they weren't too shabby, but black sesame and tofu almond stole the show.

Black sesame and tofu almond (CAD $3.75 for one scoop; two separate visits): I had black sesame on my 1st visit and I could definitely taste small bits of black sesame seeds. The balance between almond and tofu was in perfect harmony. Both flavors are must-get.

If you are near Kensington Market / Chinatown, then stop by Kekou Gelato and try some of their potentially life changing gelato.
