  • Las Vegas roasteries are growing in number, and it's best you take note because they are upping the city's coffee game rapidly. Desert Wind Roastery is known for their Breaking Bad espresso menu, which has curated drinks from the show. The menu itself is awesome because it showcases espressos in a variety of lights, reliant heavily on showcasing the beans and how they can be highlighted without stealing the spotlight. Good coffee doesn't need a ton of additives, but it benefits from complementary elements. The roastery has a large selection of single origin coffees, all roasted in-house within the last 10 days. See my menu photo for the take-home beans menu. My friend and I opted for the Breaking Bad espresso menu and purchased the Heisenberg (double espresso with chocolate and house-made caramel; $3.95) and the Flynn (double espresso with coconut cream; $3.95). Both were delicious - the Heisenberg's caramel mellowed out the bitterness of the chocolate, and was a delight with the espresso; meanwhile the coconut was infused into the cream, which paired and highlighted the flavors in the coffee. Overall, the service was also fantastic. I bought the Peru and Sumatra beans to bring back to New York, and the team was kind and helpful. The only downside to this place has to do with the marketing of it. Although this doesn't change my opinion about the products or services, I hate it when the website and the decor of a place don't do the products justice. The website isn't very informative, whilst the decor was half cute/half kitschy. But back to the important stuff - the beans and the baristas were top notch. INSIDER TIP: A guest wanted to sample all the pour-overs, so they designed a bingo-type card where you save on the total cost of the pour overs while you get to try them all. I don't recall the specifics for pricing, so ask your favorite Desert Wind barista!
