| - I used to have to drive all the way to Markham, to Bakery Nakamura to get Japanese French style desserts, but now that I have found Mon K, there is a much closer alternative!
My favourites here are the Strawberry Shortcake Cake - heavenly light white cake with whipped cream and strawberries, not too sweet and light as a cloud;
The Apple Turnover is wonderfully flaky with tasty Apple purée inside - so if you are looking for chunks of Apple, this is not for you;
The french toast / pain Perdue is made with their baguettes, resulting in a great crunchy texture with a sweet custard like centre, sadly they only make this on weekends.
The cream puffs are Japanese style with a light custard cream inside. The choux pastry has a crackle streusel surface, different and sweeter than Nakamura. They sometimes offer matcha flavour too.
They have many fancy cakes which you can purchase by whole cake and the slice/individual servings, as well as croissants, sandwiches, cookies, etc, so many choices for such a tiny shop, however if you go late in the day your choices will be limited as they usually sell out most of what they make in the morning.
Cash or debit only - debit has saved me many times because with high quality are prices to match, but worth it.
