| - I can't believe that I have never been to Vallozzi's restaurant. It's next to my new office and I have walked past there a gazillion times and I've never gone in. (For some reason, I thought that the menu was overpriced and I should have done my homework. It's not really overpriced.)
First of all, I love a good looking restaurant and Vallozzi's is a good looking restaurant. I would apply the words, serene, tranquil and relaxing to the environment there. (I'm surprised that they don't have a spa tucked away behind a hidden wall...) I felt extremely relaxed during my lunch there and I think that the rest of the patrons felt the same way because everyone spoke in hushed tones while I was there.
My lunch partner said that they go to lunch there at least once a week couldn't believe that I had never been there, considering my food, ahem, addiction. Well, I hadn't but I wished that I would have because I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. I ordered the $16 GRILLED SALMON with creamy polenta and mushroom ragout. My lunch partner ordered the $11 VALLOZZI pizza with tomato sauce and provolone. He also asked our server to add pepperoni.
I really enjoyed my grilled salmon. It was properly cooked and not dried out in the center and the polenta had a great consistency while the mushroom ragout rounded out the dish perfectly. I also tried the pizza and the crust had a nice chew and the sauce wasn't overly reduced and bitter. Very deft hands handled that pizza pie and I was extremely pleased.
I know that $16 is a little much for lunch, but I enjoyed the food, the service and the surroundings. Overall, a very pleasant experience!
