My husband was transported by ambulance for severe stomach pain. The entire staff ignored his stomach pain and were only interested in his heart. He had heart surgery a year earlier and all was fine but their only focus was doing every test known to man on his heart. They even sent in a cardiologist who asked about his chest pain, we told them it was abdominal pain. He has a murmur we are well of and it is monitored by his competent cardiologist. He became a side show for the nurses who all wanted to come in and hear his heart. After he was there about 8 hours they admitted him to ICU, but ICU was full so they left him in a room in the ER. After 14 hours we wanted out and asked to be discharged, we were told he couldn't be discharged until the ICU doctor said so. ICU doctor comes down finally and says no idea what the pain might have been and discharged him. That 16 hours came to about $94,000.00 and they did nothing for him but tell him to go see his own doctor when we got home.
