  • I am making this post as a result of the minor mistake "I hope" followed up by an unreasonable response from the supervisor. I am a loyal customer and have been buying tire from Discount tires before Happy Valley was developed. I stopped by this morning to get the tires check (a service my family uses monthly). We purchased a vehicle a month ago. The tires on this vehicle are filled with nitrogen. The stem caps clearly have a chrome and blue "N" indicating the tire should be filled with Nitrogen. I asked the staff member who was checking the tire if he had filled the tire with Nitrogen. He said no. Before I could respond he walked away. A supervisor came over and told me "the air we breath is 70% nitrogen. We (Discount Tires) did a study and found that nitrogen (filled tires) are not worth the hype that dealerships make it out to be. An air filled tire will lose 3.5 pounds per month, a nitrogen filled tire will lose about 1.5 pounds a month. We did not think that nitrogen was worth it." I rely on Discount tire to be the professional and keep my car safe and to keep me informed. Unfortunately in this case they were not professional nor able to offer an apology. Instead I was told why they decided to do as they wanted rather than asking me if I wanted air in the tires. His explanation justified why nitrogen should be used instead of air. A 50% gain is worth it to me. Especially in Arizona as we go from hot to cold or cold to hot. The supervisor did admit that the initial staff member did make a mistake and should have, known that the valve stem cap indicated a nitrogen filled tire and he should have informed me that they didn't have nitrogen. The supervisor was not polite, clearly annoyed that he had to explain "how it was". Once he was fnished he sat crouched by the driver side window staring at me.
