| - I love Aldi. Yes, it requires you to bring your own bags plus a quarter to use a cart (which you get back when you put the cart away), but the savings are excellent. I can do about 70-90% of my weekly shopping here with stopping at other stores in the area to pick up the rest of the things that Aldi doesn't stock. To me, that's worth the extra trips to put some money back in my pocket.
This store was recently remodeled and it was definitely a big change from how it was. It's been nicely updated and doesn't feel as outdated as it was. But! They also now actually label where things are which is extremely helpful while I figure out what the new layout is. You can also now cut through the middle of the aisles as they made them into two sections instead of one long aisle that forced you to go through the store as one giant maze. A large portion of the produce is now also refrigerated, and the refrigerated special buys are mostly lumped together too to make them slightly easier to locate. Meat and seafood are now also located in their own refrigerated corner and feels more organized.
Yes, the store also gets congested - when there are a lot of people in store, you definitely feel it while trying to get through the aisles. Sometimes you might have to wait a minute or two in line while one of the employees comes to the front to run a till. But, they're still ridiculously efficient at getting people checked out. Another plus is that the bagging area was also slightly expanded in the remodel and while the small counter by the door was lost, it was replaced with additional check out lines in case the store gets crammed.
All in all, I'm happy with this location. Weirdly, it's also slightly cheaper than the Urbana store on a lot of staples, so I'll keep coming back here.
