I rarely consider Chinese cuisine to be fine dining but Lao Sze Chuan was the exception. My son and I have eaten here on two occasions and found the experience to be exceptional. On our first trip we started with an appetizer of pot stickers which we considered to be good but not memorable. The entrees, however, were excellent. My son ordered the crispy lemon shrimp and I went with the Orange beef. Both meals were delicious but the shrimp was the clear winner. On the second trip we started with an appetizer of fried shrimp which were lightly breaded and delicious. The entrees we selected were the chili chicken and the mongolian beef. Our waitress warned us that the chicken was an 8 out of ten on the hotness scale and ,while I did find that to be true , it was a "good hot" that added flavor rather than just heat. It is hard for me to rave about a dish like mongolian beef because it is a staple of every Chinese restaurant but this entree was sublime. The beef was so incredibly tender and flavorful that you wanted to savor each bite. One of the ways I judge a restaurant is whether I still think about the experience a few days later. With that in mind I can say that I not only think of Lao Sze Chuan , I crave their food.
