| - Three months ago, I went to the service department here when my car's "take me to the dealer NOW" emergency light went on. I had a friend pull the code and reset the light, and drove over to Desert Toyota. The service rep I talked at that time was completely unfriendly and seemed more interested in going home than helping my situation. He told me that Desert Toyota couldn't be bothered to even look at my car unless they see the emergency light on, and by the way, they were about to close. So...screw these guys, right?
Last week, the emergency light came on again, this time with some electrical problems. None of the Toyota dealerships in Las Vegas have good reviews, and Desert Toyota happens to be closest to my house, so....I grit my teeth, drove over, and pulled into the service bay.
It was a completely different experience. The service rep I got this time seemed both genuinely interested in figuring out what was wrong and knowledgeable about my car, asking a bunch of good questions about what led to the error. He then explained exactly what they were going to do and by when they were going to do it, and directed me to the shuttle service that took me home. After a few hours, he called me and said they identified the issue and were fixing it. When I got back to the dealership, they were pulling my car into the bay after having finished a road test. Done and done.
I'm good with Desert Toyota now, at least with this particular service rep. Time will tell whether their mechanical prowess holds up, but all things being equal, it's little customer service things that made me change my opinion of this place. Like being proactive in communicating expectations, and then explaining what the issue was and how their repairs fixed things.
Oh, and they have free bottled water and coffee while you wait.
