Took a month of lessons on groupon as I heard so many good things about it.
It is indeed a very fun place and great for newbies.
However, my first confusion came from the fact that when you sign up for swing lessons - their online schedule states "Lindy Hop - level1" but you actually can fall into Charlestone or LindyHop or another third variety of Swing dancing. Every type runs for a month and is considered to be first level and is required before you move to next level. This is where I disagree with the programming...now that I know beginner level Charlestone (even though I thought I'm signing up for LindyHop) I want to continue with Charlestone instead of confusing myself further and learning beginner level of two other types of dance (different count on some of them too!). It's like learning spanish beginner level and then suddenly switching to italian beginner level and then to french just to be able to move on to intermediate level of spanish/italian/french.... isn't that confusing?
And another thing - since these classes tend to be crowded there is little personal approach and personal error correction. You can still ask questions but sometimes you don't know you are making a mistake....
All this criticism is coming from me comparing BeesKnees to my ballroom and salsa lessons. In salsa for example you are focused on salsa basics and solid performance before merengue or bachata is introduced. Also very personal approach is provided in most schools.
