After living at the San Tropez for a year, here is what I found:
The good things about the San Tropez are:
1. Very nice pool as apartments go.
2. Good location near bike paths/old town/tempe
3. Perfectly manicured grounds, always looked like a showplace
4. Good apartment floorplans
5. In-unit washers & dryers
6. I always had really good experiences w/ their maintenance guys. They would come by QUICK and usually do a really nice job of fixing whatever needed to be done.
Here were the issues I had in 1 year at the San Tropez:
1. Parking is impossible to find. There are not enough "free" (uncovered) spots. If i came home at 11pm I would be parking up front in a "future resident" spot and walking halfway through the complex to my apartment.
2. Very noisy. At first I blamed my neighbors. But I think it's how the apartments are built - is there ANY insulation between the floors? I never heard my neighbors on either side, but I could hear everything my neighbors on the floor above & below were doing. I could hear them walk, laugh, turn on the TV, get in the shower, flush the toilet, do laundry, and you can imagine what else. The scary part is that I'm pretty sure if *I* heard all that... then they heard me doing all that as well.
3. No cable drops in bedrooms. Only 2 cable drops in the living room. If you want to watch cable tv or go on the internet with a wired connection in a bedroom you have to run a coax cable along the wall/baseboard to the tv or computer.
4. Unfriendly and untrustworthy office staff. Read your lease's fine print and do not believe anything they say verbally.
5. Old appliances in my unit - and all of the units I've visited. My dishwasher & washer were sooo loud I couldn't run them if I was going to bed, the knocking would keep me up.
That all being said... Good luck!
