| - This place has been around since Feb 2010. I've been to all of the restaurants, left and right around Soyo, but never once have I been to Soyo. Being around for 8 months, I thought I give this place a try. I had no clue what this place was all about. After eating at Soyo for the first time, I felt that this place was jaw dropping.
We were greeted by a Korean guy that was able to speak English. I've been to a few Korean restaurants in the valley but none of them had someone who was fluent in English. So I was thrilled to find someone who can communicate effectively with us. We didn't know what to order, the guy recommended us two dish.
Marinated Beef with Garlic and finely cut green onions $14
This is an appetizer. The marinated beef tasted great. Finely chopped onions had some kind of sesame flavor in it. A sweet sauce plus a side of jalepeno. The combination of meat, veggies, and the Kimchi that came on the side was mouth watering.
Cold Noodle, kimchi, cucumber $7
Noodle was extremely elastic. I mean, I wanted to ask them for scissors to cut up the noodle. Haha. I THINK the noodle is bean noodle, but I might be wrong. But we tried eating it anyways because it was too good for us to wait for the scissors. I can't even tell what kind flavor I was eating, but it was good.
1 star for service- came and ask us how the food was twice, gave us more water without us asking, excellent service
1 star atmosphere - they got Korean manga on the book self and a bunch of unique collectibles on display which gives the place a unique atmosphere which most places fail to show. This place is clean.
3 stars for the food - everything was somewhat spicy, but spicy enough to keep you going, but not to the point where I am dying for a water. The side dishes were great too. Bean sprouts, long beans, kimchi, coleslaw, everything was great.
Conclusion: I give this place 5 stars, I don't really know what's REAL Korean food, but what I ate at Soyo already made me feel that I had one of the best korean meals ever. I will be back at Soyo whenever my friends are in town. Gotta show all my friends this awesome place.
