| - I want to really love Gold's because of its accessibility, its affordability, and all around amenities offered. I can practically take any type of class I want--yoga, weight-lifting, cycling, etc--all throughout the day, 7 days a week. There are plenty of machines, even during peak hours, and I guess I get 2 free personal training classes just for enrolling.
Despite this, it is hard to look beyond the lack of attention to functionality of the gym and the demand for the pool. The area to the right of the machines on the main floor has ample space for stretching, core work, and a TRX station...Why are there no mirrors here? Form is a wonderful thing to assess when doing planks. Instead, there are several large windows that serve really only the purpose of letting in the occasional bright light of cars...and the occasional car to check out my rear. Lady Gold's.....why? The room is so small it's uncomfortable with only a few people in it. Its small areas with mirrors and mats can barely serve the needs of two people. The "main" weight area is accompanied by so many power lifters and machines that even I, as a former D1 female athlete, find it extremely uncomfortable and intimidating. Make lady gold's and the main weight area one; tackle the stigma head on that women should feel inferior if they can't use these big bulky weights and machines with Hulk Hogan at my side. Don't make us feel more "comfortable" in a claustrophobic room.
And finally, the pool...yes the area that triggered this snap. Why do you not have a separate pool for the "demand" of aqua class? A previous reviewer also brought this up and it was dismissed and noted that there are plenty of times that the pool is in fact "open." Frankly, I I initially thought the guy reviewing could have easily adjusted his schedule to accommodate an hour long class...Well, now that I'm here enrolled and swimming: you have to consider getting to the gym at 4 am to get your swim in because master's swim is at 545 am to 7 am Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Then it's also offered 1130 am Tuesdays and Thursdays so don't think about always going during lunch. Aqua class is also at 945 on Monday, 430 pm on Tuesday, 9 am on Wednesday, 515 pm on Wednesday, 430 pm Thursday, 9 am Friday, and 8 am Saturday. Now, factor in that everyone takes these classes into account, tries to swim right before or right after. You are almost never guaranteed your own lane. You should consider yourself lucky if you have your own lane or don't have to wait to share a lane. So...why is there no searatw aqua class pool like at Pinnacle if there is so much demand for it? The gym should know plenty of their members enroll to swim the pool. I cant even count the number of times I've swam next to former collegiate swimmers, elite triathletes, and every day people looking to take stress off their joints but remain active. Right now, I'm not really convinced it was a smart move to pick Gold's for the pool over Pinnacle. I'd rather have a higher membership fee than dealing with the stress of trying to get 3 swims in during the week alongside an array of classes for a small group of about 15 people. Overall, I'm looking forward to leaving once the weather is nice enough for an outdoor pool that doesn't disregard swimmers despite its presence of a lap lane pool.
