  • Completely disappointed and shocked at how highly recommended Mayo is. The care is just like everywhere else. The employees working in scheduling and appointments are unpleasant and rude. They give no eye contact and never smile. When you call, expect to spend 2hr on the phone to get anything resolved. Expect to be placed on hold and transferred for 1hr 15min of the 2 hr call. I do not recommend endocrinology! I have thyroid issues. My TSH keeps going up. I could sleep all day. I walk around extremely tired, which puts me in a bad mood. My labs continue to show TSH is high. I originally went to Mayo because after being treated for hypothyroidism with Levothyroxine for 7 years, all of the sudden 3yr ago I started getting severe chest pain/tightness, shortness of breath and a resting heart rate of 180 and have been unable to tolerate any thyroid medication. After seeing the endocrinologist here and having labs drawn, my TSH came back elevated and they put me right back on the Levothyroxine and within 2 weeks I was back to having the same awful reaction that has already landed me in the ER twice. The Dr had more labs drawn to see if I "didn't have a thyroid problem" and suggested that was the reason for my reaction. My TSH came back even higher than the 1st set of labs drawn, but the Dr still insisted I do not have a thyroid problem. After convincing the Dr to prescribe something as I am really struggling getting through the day with fatigue, she prescribed a new medication and told me to take 1/2 the pill. The pill is so small and so thin that it is impossible to cut and just crumbles. So, I took a whole pill and after 1 week had severe chest pain again. I would give 3 stars because the nurse was excellent at my visit, but since I paid $400 on top of having excellent insurance and still feel like crap everyday with no follow-up care or treatment, I am completely disgusted in this place! I also took a day off work to drive there. A whole day and $400 wasted. Don't waste your time completing Mayo's long survey about your visit either because I provided my info for follow-up and received none. That was another 45min wasted on this place. This review is strictly based off my endocrinology appt and I want to make others aware so that they don't get their hopes up and waste time with endocrinology. They don't care whatsoever at all. After having a breakdown at a Drs appt elsewhere about being so tired from my hypothyroidism, she referred me to a naturopathic Dr who has great success in treating thyroid conditions, so I recommend doing the same for any endocrine disorders. You will not get help here, just scammed.
