| - I am a child of the 90s, and I have many fond memories of going to Movie Mart, Erol's, Blockbuster Video, Network Video, and other movie stores around Greater Cleveland. There's nothing like the anticipation of walking through the front door of the video store and wondering if the movie or game that you want is in stock, and the personalized recommendations from a live human being and banter with the employee at checkout are irreplaceable.
Because of this, I am a huge fan of Family Video. It may be the last chain of its kind, but as long as I am alive, it will have at least one customer. I don't think I'll ever be alone, though, as the parking lot tends to be packed on weekend evenings.
I like the fact that they have a wide selection of movies; there are a plethora of new releases, but there are also a wide array of movies that are a year or two old and a section with "classics" from various eras.
As a gamer, I'm grateful that I can stop by Family Video to rent a game before I buy it. Many of the older games are "Rent 1, Get 1 Free", and I like this a lot because it allows me to sample a wide variety of older games that I may have missed.
I love Family Video, and I'm very happy that they provide a great option for those of us who still love to spend our weekend evenings poking around the video store.
