Camping in the CVNP - Stanford House site:
5 primitive tent sites inside the park, the only camping available in the park. $25/night for level sites with modern picnic table and food hooks. Set in the meadow at the beginning of the Stanford trail to Brandywine Falls, the park provides all the firewood you'd ever need for the communal fire pit and potable water. Sites 1-3 are near the trees while 4 & 5 are in the clearing. Mowed out of tall grasses, each site is private and within walking distance of single porta-potty. Parking lot for loading/unloading.
We had the place to ourselves mid week but the weekends book up fast. Fire pit has been fitted out with ring/grill and seating for a group - no need for camp chairs. Wood is dry and seasoned. Fire bucket nearby as you must put out fire before leaving. No alcohol or pets.
Hike to Brandywine falls is uphill both ways and has little to recommend - save yourself the 2.5 mile walk and drive to falls. Other hikes in park are better.
My son's first camp out and it was a success.
