Cute neighborhood tavern with all of the neighborhood charm. We have been 4 times now and it's a go-to spot for a casual low-key night. It feels a little fledgling still - like a new baby duck still figuring out what to serve and how to best execute their concept, but they are doing well so far. It's an easy walk from our place in Squirrel Hill, so I am looking forward to seeing what it becomes. The decor is tavern-style, but with an eclectic mix of table set-ups to fit different parties. You can hang out as long as you'd like and the services has been great all four times.
The food menu is limited, but we haven't had a bad meal yet. They could stand to add a few more choices, but what they do have is solid. At four visits, we have tried 3/4 of the menu if that gives you an idea. The bread pudding dessert with whiskey ice cream is a must have - served with a cute little baby shot of Crown Maple. The shot poured over (as recommended) is a little too much whiskey flavor for me, so I usually just drink the shot and then eat the dessert.
Prices are reasonable enough for both food and standard drinks. Their whiskey selection is varied and includes some local spirits. The staff has been the same every time and they know their stuff, so ask for a recommendation if you don't know what to choose. Wine is very limited and the beer list is too; but we can always find something we like.
Overall a winner. If they expand their food menu a bit and stock a little more wine, I'll probably come back and give it the 5th star.
