| - Tried this gem tonight after long debate whether I wanted sushi or fish. Boy am I glad I chose fish! The location was decent, on Central Avenue right before it gets "questionable". It was Halloween night and not busy at all..which was fine with me!
When I first saw the building, I noticed the eclectic art surrounding the patio. This art continued as I entered, and was filled throughout the restaurant. It was interesting, because the art looked like it was made up of reclaimed items. Some of which included a mermaid, flamingo, and sailfish. This style wouldn't normally work in any space, but for some reason looked great here and was very inviting!
As I entered, I was greeted right away and then seated. I was given water and asked what else I would be drinking. Unfortunately, I declined since I would be drinking later since it was Halloween! I noticed the menu had a lot of great options, but nothing relatively healthy like I wanted. I was okay with this since it is a Southern style restaurant and "heathy" is sometimes hard to come by. I ended up getting the Southern Fried Shrimp Roti with a side of roasted potatoes. I chose this entree because I am in love with shrimp and the Jamaican curry sauce sounded amazing (yellow curry with peppers, onions, and pumpkin)!
When I received my food, I realized that my eyes were bigger than my stomach. It was so much food and didn't think I could even make a dent in it. While enjoying my meal, the waiter filled my water several times and was very attentive. I thought he did a great job at making me feel comfortable, without coming around too often. As for the food, it was absolutely amazing! it was definitely Southern style and seasoned well done. Great, but not somewhere I could eat all the time, just when I need some comfort food..which is actually far too often. I ended up eating half of my food, and got a box for the rest (I love when this happens).
As I was leaving, I saw a poster with Guy Fryer's face on it. I absolutely love his show and couldn't believe he also tried this restaurant! I wondered what he ate, and I got the idea to google it later when I got home. Story of my life!
