| - Located approximately 55 miles from The Strip, Coyote Springs is a true golf destination exclusively for those who truly love the game.
The last 30 of those miles come on a two-lane road with no gas stations, no restaurants and absolutely no buildings whatsoever.
Isolated in the middle of the desert, this Jack Nicklaus signature design is a real gem and to say it is worth the drive is an understatement.
The course is gorgeous, the views are wonderful and I honestly have never been any place on Planet Earth where it can be so palpably quiet.
Yardage length is 6200+ from white, 6800+ from blue and 7400+ from the black yet virtually every tee shot plays level or downhill to add length to a properly hit drive.
Sand, waste and, even out here in the desert, water hazards are plentiful, but can be avoided with accurate shot-making and I consider the entire layout difficult yet more than a fair test.
While the Par 3 8th plays as the #1 handicap hole, the Par 4 14th to me is more deserving of that honor. The tee shot is the toughest at Coyote Springs and the green has more twists and turns than the rides atop the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino.
Every time I visit, I find the course in very good condition although I do wish there were a few more yardage markers from 200 yards and in on the Par 4's and Par 5's since carts do not feature GPS.
The homes and community that were part of the original vision for Coyote Springs may never happen, but my hope is that we true golfers offer enough business to Karl Larcom and his staff to keep this golf course a five-star stop when playing in Las Vegas and/or Mesquite.
