| - The CNE! An annual humongous fair held at the exhibition place signifying the end of summer with tons of rides, shows and super unhealthy food, it never disappoints!
My girlfriend and I decided to venture here on the Friday before labour day weekend as the labour day weekend itself is usually just packed wall to wall with people. We had arrived early afternoon and it wasn't that bad in terms of people until after 5pm when the families with kids starting coming in.
Whenever we go CNE, our intention is usually to see the shows and try some different foods. This time in terms of shows we checked out the ice show (always a good pick and this time with an Olympic medalist performing too!), a Swedish acrobat show (very unexpected, it was a mix of comedy and acrobatics, highly recommended to check it out if they come in following years) and the parkour competition! The shows are always worth the price of admission.
In terms of food, it's recommended that you try the lobster roll from captain Jake's food booth, it came with fries and was amazing! We would NOT recommend getting the fish tacos from the standard fish and chips booths (the ones with the red sign) in the food emporium. All they did was put a piece of fried fish in a tortilla wrap with a some badly chopped lettuce and a slice of tomato..yuck, it was not appetizing at all, so not worth it (it was almost $10!), do NOT get these.
CNE is always worth the annual trip and we'll be coming next year too!
