  • I am the owner of a real estate investment company here in town and spend an average of $5000 every 3 months at HomeGoods. I shop primarily at the Summerlin and Warm Springs locations. Yesterday, I had a return that I needed to make for two chairs and a small sofa. The items were purchased at the Summerlin location but our new property in close to the Warm Springs location, so I decided just to return them there; what a horrible mistake! First, the assistant manager was discouraging me to make the return and asked me why I didn't return the items to the Summerlin location. From the moment I approached her to help me with the return she seemed annoyed and overall disinterested in assisting me. I explained to her that I was not looking for a refund but store credit. I explained to her that I did not have the receipt but I had the original store tags and the manufacturer tags and each of the barcode stickers are intact and able to scan. She instructed me to bring all three large items in to the store. I had over 4k in receipts but unfortunately I did not have the original receipt; I have lost a receipt or two in the past and never had an issue completing a return for store credit. Everything was in order for a quick and easy return for store credit, everything but the associates willingness to help. The assistant manager refused to help me. She claimed that the items could not be found in the system so she could not complete the return. That was it, she could not provide any further service- she did recommend that I take the items to the Summerlin location and perhaps they could help. I am very disappointed in the managers willingness to help me find a solution. She completely wasted my time having me carry the three large items into the store for absolutely no reason. Clearly something could have been done or she wouldn't have directed me to the Summerlin store. Whatever her reason, she did not want to help. I left feeling frustrated and discouraged. There is an abundance of choices when it comes to shopping for home decor products. I have always favored HomeGoods because I have usually had positive shopping experiences and find great items. However from now on I will not be shopping at HomeGoods; instead, I will take my business to companies that value their customers and strive for excellence in customer service. Companies such as Wayfair, Wayfair sells all of the same items as HomeGoods but doesn't charge tax, shipping and they honor corporate pricing. Wayfair and many other companies have excellent customer service and are always available to help with a simple return.
