| - I was surprised they were accepting new patients! I've been looking for a new doctor over the past year with little success.
I called and the receptionist was very short with me, no friendly hello, no "how are you", I essentially was asked "what do you want". I was desperate though- I really wanted to feel healthy again! I couldn't find anyone else who was taking new patients.
I now understand why they were low on patients, their customer service is absolutely horrendous.
First, I had to wait over 4 months to get my first appointment, when I had a serious medical condition the ER couldn't address.
I asked what I should do in the mean time to alleviate my suffering and she replied "how am I supposed to know?" This should have been my first red flag.
They called me the day before my appointment to remind me, and when I asked her to refresh my memory and let me know the address I heard an audible sigh of frustration from her end before she rambled off the address and hung up the phone so hard I heard it slam. Sorry, after 4 months, my memory isn't so sharp.
I showed up to my appointment and the way the receptionist handled my meet and greet was beyond rude. I had a bit of an problem with the corner of my health card snapping off, but it wasn't an issue at any other medical professional I've been to so far. The black bar at the back is intact, as well as all the information on the card. I had called Service Ontario, they told me not to worry about it. She snapped at me, yelled at me, rolled her eyes more than once, and waved her hands threateningly at me.
When I told her that it wasn't an issue at other doctors, she decided to shame me and ask "why do you need to meet with so many doctors anyway?" When I told her Service Ontario told me not to bother replacing it and she told me that they weren't doing their job right..
I asked her if she wanted me to just leave and she snapped "will you let me finish?!" As if I wanted to sit through a grown woman losing her cool in the workplace !
It was very unprofessional considering the area and clientele. I asked her why she was losing her temper with me and she replied "well you're not a patient here!" I thought that waiting over 4 months for my appointment meant that yes, I was a patient. Even if I wasn't a patient that's no way to treat anyone!
When I told her I was leaving, she got up, followed behind me far too closely, and slammed the door behind me! I saw her grinning to herself.
I couldn't believe an adult had the nerve to throw a full blown power tripping temper tantrum in a professional workplace, especially one that is meant to deal with patients sensitive concerns and medical issues. I am sick and quite fragile, I shouldn't have to deal with this at a place that is meant to help me.
Terrible environment. If I could give 0 stars I would. If this was a quality medical centre, they'd notice that their receptionist is quite sick in the head.
