Before the James Beard Award and the Gourmet Magazine review, Lotus of Siam was a small little hole in the wall located in Commercial Center in Las Vegas. You got to take a cab drive to this ghetto side of town, but you will enjoy it and get your Thai fix here.
- Nam Kao Tod - crispy rice salad, minced sour sausage mixed with green onion, fresh chili, ginger, peanuts, crispy rice and lime juice - so good!
- Miang Kham - It is often sold in the street, with the ingredients wrapped separately in small plastic bags. Filled with roasted coconut shavings and the following main ingredients chopped or cut into small pieces: Shallots, Fresh red or green bird's eye chili peppers, Ginger, Garlic, Lime - hit the spot.
- WOON SEN SOUP - Cellophane noodles with minced chicken, sliced black mushrooms and onion in clear broth.
- Yum Woon Sen - Cellophane noodles, onions, with combination of seafoods mixed with chili and lime juice. Served on bed of greens. 1 of my favorite dishes here.
- LARB KOONG OR PLAR DOOK - catfish or shrimp - Minced shrimp or catfish, chopped onions, fresh and dry chilis, lime juice. Served with fresh cabbage. Delicous.
- GINGER FISH Deep fried whole pompano fish, topped with ginger, onions, and black mushroom sauce. Oh how it hits the spot!
Amazing wine selection of Riesling KABINETT, SPÄTLESE, AUSLESE, you name it they have it, and also by the glass as well.
I also love to come here for the lunch buffet when I'm attending CES. Too bad they discontinued the buffet now ;-( Service is always good, reservation is highly recommended.
