Looking for something different to do this summer? Check out Lakeview Cemetery. I know this might sound morbid, but it is full of Cleveland history. I packed a lunch and loaded up my 2 kids for a "field trip". We used the Mayfield entrance and the top of Murray Hill. We drove in and our first stop was Wade Chapel. Beautiful mosaics on the wall and floor. Next stop, James Garfield Memorial. WOW! This is spectacular. The guide was so informative and really engaged my kids. We walked to the top and had a breathtaking view of Downtown Cleveland. We then went to the Crypt and viewed the President and his wife's caskets. We then walked around and viewed some amazing headstones, monuments etc. (rockefeller)
After leaving, we stopped in little Italy for a cookie. There is a park across from Holy Rosary Montessori School. Played a bit and then called it a day!
