| - Reviews seem a bit mixed for Emiliano's, although having been here twice I found my experience to be pretty consistent so far. Came both times on a weekend night, and it was at least 85% or so full. There was about a 5 minute wait each time, which was very reasonable. Chips (warm!) and salsa were provided as soon as we got the table, and our orders were promptly taken.
The fajitas were definitely the stand-outs in the menu and just looking around the restaurant, with savory sizzling plates being brought out to the tables every so often. The thing was that you could smell them from across the room, a huge motivation for ordering one. The sampler was perfect to share, with so much food that no appetizer or side was needed. The plate came loaded with different meats and shrimp, plus a lot of sweet onions and bell peppers on the base. The carnitas and shrimp were done pretty nicely both times, while the chicken might have been a bit on the dry side (but still very tasty). The steak was definitely a highlight--oftentimes, fajitas are ruined with the steak being too well-done, but this was not the case here. Instead it ended being juicy with a bit of tenderness and lots of flavor.
The standard sides of rice, refried beans, salad, and tortillas also came with the fajitas. They're probably more of a one-person serving, but that was fine with us seeing how many things were on the fajita plate. While this is not Texas, I do think that this is the go-to place for Tex Mex in the city.
