  • We found this place while driving around the new neighborhood one day and the description "Mediterranean, Barbeque" was very intriguing. We showed up, around 5:30, and entered a very fun looking place; seriously, you need to see this one! At 5:30 on a Friday, it was hopping, but not too full. (By the time we finished our meal, there were people waiting for a table). The food options are broken down into Small Plates, Sandwiches, Salads, Plates, and Sides. Everything is served a la carte, so if you get a sandwich or plate, you should consider getting a side or two for the table (they're basically two-person servings). I had the Portobello Mushroom Sandwich and my companion had the lamb burger. Both of these were great! The sandwiches were both on the messy side, so be prepared for that, but I tend to find a direct correlation between messiness and great taste. For sides, we opted for the beets and the forbidden rice & wild mushroom paella. The beets were fantastic--seriously, we fought over them! Of note, the beets are served room temperature, which was strange at first, but works well for the dish. We picked the rice because it has gotten very high reviews, but it honestly did not totally blow us away. It was good, and tasted exactly like what you would expect black rice and mushrooms to taste like, but just didn't blow us out of the water (to be fair, we're pretty judgemental about rice in my family). Next time we visit, we'll get two orders of beets, skip the rice, and try a different side. Probably our favorite thing was the tzatziki sauce, which comes on some of the sandwiches and you can get an extra side of (which you totally should) or get as an appetizer with pita bread (comes by itself or on a plate with hummus and eggplant spread). The lamb burger comes with the tzatziki on it and, being sauce people, we ordered an extra. We ended up putting it on everything! It's super creamy (one of the thickest yogurt based sauce I've seen in the States) and heavy on the garlic in a great way! One thing of note is that they do not have a heat lamp, so items come to the table as they are prepared, rather than waiting for everything to be ready and getting it all at once. We ended up getting our beets first (the point at which we realized we should have gotten two orders), then our sandwiches, then the forbidden rice. This can be kind of strange at first but our waitress explained it to us when we ordered, so it wasn't a concern. The only real reason that this got 4 stars, instead of 5, was the price. For two sandwiches, two sides, and no extra drinks, we paid almost $40 before tip--not totally unreasonable, but more than we prefer to spend. That being said, it was a great meal, and we'll definitely go there again!
