Visited for the first time in April. I'm not a cook, but I recently started taking cooking classes and now I covet all top of the line cookware. I was thinking about getting some Le Creuset cast iron pieces, but the prices were a bit scary at Williams Sonoma and Sur La Table. Found the outlet store through a google search and went to check it out immediately. (If you're going to the outlet mall, park at Saks Off 5th and Le Creuset is almost next to it).
Turns out they were having a 40% off sale on their Seconds the day I was there. I had read about their Seconds online and what will send a nice piece of cookware to the Seconds bin is always something cosmetic (a slight bubble in the enamel outside coating or the gradient finish in the enamel isn't up to par). Whatever is wrong with the piece never affects actual cooking. It really is just cosmetic. They also have a huge selection of First pieces at a good discount.
Wound up purchasing a 5 Qt Oval Dutch Oven, A 3.5 Qt Brasier, A 10 1/2 inch Grill Pan, A 10 1/2 inch Skillet and a beautiful wooden bread server for a little over $400. Basically got everything listed above for the retail cost of the Dutch Oven alone. Every piece I purchase was a Second and I challenge anyone to find the "flaw" in any of the pieces. They look as gorgeous as Firsts.
The salespeople in the store on the day I was there were extremely helpful and pleasant. The store is very clean and the items are displayed as nicely as they would be in a high end shop. If I decide to buy more items from Le Creuset, I'll definitely wind up at their outlet again.
