| - I'm not Canadian...so I had no idea what Canadian Tire was. With such a literal name, i simply thought it was a tire store, which i would never dream of stepping into...since i don't have a car here
So imagine my surprise when someone told me that Canadian Tire is the equivalent of Target...or Home Depot...or Wal-mart
OK, first of all, it's nothing like Target.
Not even close.
It's also...not quite Wal-mart.
However, if K-Mart and True Value Hardware had a child and was born north of the border...it could be Canadian Tire.
The store is heavy on the funtional hardware- nails, paint, drills, storage and strangely, very cheap toilet paper. Sure they sell clocks, shower curtains and storage bins etc. but they're functional- not pretty, no design, no asethetics...nothing pretty about this. And no useful household/bath stuff...like shampoo etc. And nope, no clothes, TVs, DVDs etc. It's not a one-stop household store
There's a lot of nothing that suits me here. I walked in and out in 3 mins.
So...when Target comes into the market...i'm sure Canadian Tire would be very wary...but...their biz model is a little diff. Not an Apples-to-Apples comparison.
However, if you do need cheap Charmin toilet paper, this is THE place for it $5.94 for 12 rolls? amazing)
