| - Phoenix is known for many restaurants, but how many are considered a part of Tempe history? Then again, is nearly 40 years considered history? For students at ASU, it sure is! It's more than double many of their ages.
There are some parking spots though I've always found it easier to park elsewhere and just walk over. The moment you walk into the restaurant, you instantly notice one long line that looks like it will take forever to order and receive your food. The Chuck Box knows how to handle a big line. They take orders as you stand a bit back into the line and keep the line moving along. As you walk up, you get your drink and by that time, your food is already ready for you. Looks can be misleading, and they certainly are in this case.
There is a very nice condiment bar that everyone seems to enjoy after you get your food and leave the line. It's nice to personalize the burgers, chicken, fries, or whatever else of the simple menu you choose to order. There are little ones (burgers), big ones, and then great big ones. I've never gone hungry with a big one or a double little one. They're all tasty no matter what you order!
It's hard to imagine that this classic restaurant has been rejected by Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. That's the story around Tempe. Perhaps it has to do with with them only accepting cash? Or their choice in furniture (log ends as chairs), which I personally appreciate?
