I am really sorry that I have to write this review.
Does anyone else feel ripped off by Blossom?
I understand that the orchestra gets a lot of its support from the summer season at Blossom. I also understand that I am lucky enough to have the discretionary income to afford it. However, my impression is that they have gone too far and are taking advantage of their customers. Not a really good business model...
I have many fond memories of regularly attending summer concerts at Blossom, both popular and occasionally orchestra. I was a member of the Blossom Club and probably went to 8 or 10 shows a year. I used to buy VIP parking passes when you had to go down to the orchestra building to buy them.
At tonight's show:
1. No one was allowed onto the lawn until 45 minutes before the show.
2. Prices for food and drinks were truly exorbitant.
3. Popcorn was quite stale.
4. I could not understand why my son-in-law was allowed to bring an unopened bottle of water onto the site, but the water I purchased onsite had to be sold without a cap! The staff was amazed by this blatant contradiction as well. I was unable to put the bottle of water into my pocket and walk down the hill to my seat - forced to juggle my purchases and spill the liquids. (Maybe that's the goal?)
5. Perhaps the greatest insult was being subjected to repeated advertisements from ambulance chasing attorneys while I was out trying to enjoy the evening. We were sitting on the lawn for a while and a banner ad was directly in our line of sight. This is a dealbreaker for me!
Quite sad to say goodbye to an old friend. Perhaps someone from Blossom will see this and get the powers that be to reconsider their heavy-handed and ill-considered approach to revenue generation at the expense of customer loyalty.
