I've been to quite a few zoos in my travels and after reading all the reviews for the Cleveland Zoo, I expected way too much for what was experienced.
Upon arrival, there was amble parking (as in the parking area is extension) and we noticed there was a tram that could shuttle you to the front and rear of the zoo. We opted for parking in the rear and entering the zoo from that entrance. At the entrance, I used my Military Discount, this is a nice perk.
The first thing I noticed about the zoo was that the exhibits were large and there wasn't enough shade for the animals. All the animals appeared to be suffering from heat exhaustion. It was extremely hot the day we visited and I remember feeling upset and sad for them as I saw many of them laid out with their eyes closed in the sun, I took to twitter immediately and complained!
Coolest thing at the zoo was that my family was able to feed the giraffe's.
Food here is expensive and zoo staff wasn't very helpful whenever we asked questions.
The zoo has a nice rainforest exhibit, the best part of walking through was the Orangutan exhibit, they were quite entertaining.
I had a nice time during my visit to this zoo but I would not visit again. Several exhibits were closed but I didn't feel like we missed out on anything.
