| - Do you know how it is when you are having a nightmare and then you wake up only to be in another nightmare? That is how it is to be living at Palm Terrace. You have nightmares about it and then you wake up only to realize that this is reality. Finding a good apartment is like finding a good man. The management changes constantly and when there is management, they are ridiculously clueless about what is going on.
The pool was closed down one year for the whole year because they were waiting on it to be inspected because it didn't pass the last time. So for the whole summer there was no swimming. They try to fool you with the nice office that is not representative of the apartments. There is always stupid kids throwing rocks and knocking off the light globes to lampposts and breaking the light bulbs, so the walkways are dark and they never get fixed. Forget about enjoying your apartment in peace, the walls are so thin you would think they were made out of paper and there is a TON of kids that live here whose parents let run a muck.
Maintenance is retarded and will park in the fire zone for long periods of time and the office will allow people loading things to park there as well. Note: that is park, not idle. So when you come in or are leaving, this presents a potential hazard to causing accidents and almost has for us when we were leaving. My boyfriend's mom is handicapped and they had her car towed so that the maintenance guys could park in that spot so they could be in a close spot! After everything was said, we didn't have to pay to get the car out but the stupidity of the situation was astronomical.
There is one pool (that is so over-chlorinated you can smell it 25 feet outside of the pool fence!), a basketball court with no baskets (note, the entire hoop not just the net), a volleyball court with no volleyball net only nasty sand with god knows what in it. Any requests you make will not get done, maybe if your lucky you can wait until they are due to be inspected and then they tell everyone to put in their requests so they can complete them in order to cover themselves from getting in trouble. The parking is dirty, dark and often unmarked. The garbage cans are often overflowing or sometimes there is no garbage cans at all! The people who live here do not know how to park and often do not have insurance if anything should happen.
On the weekends there is often people who will come and sell things to your door which is annoying because I hate people constantly knocking on my door trying to sell me things. They have people that go around selling food out of a cart which is okay with me but they use this loud, annoying horn so frequently that you just want to open your window and tell them to shut up. We often have something go wrong with our internet connection because someone has opened up the box and messed around with the wires.
The toilets often do not operate properly, this is of course WITHOUT flushing any of the following: a tampon, pads, giant turds and anything else that has no business being flushed (except maybe the turds). There is no fitness center or any amenities for that manner, and the laundry room is really run down. Old washers that people have washed their rugs in, huge mosquitoes staring you down and overall filth. The only good thing is that it is 5 minutes away from a Food City and across from there is an El Rancho market with a bunch of other Latino businesses. I used to think reviewers were either difficult tenants to please or the problem makers themselves after I got fed up with never finding good reviews for anyplace. However this is not the case here, this apartment complex is bad. They offer no incentives for renewing your lease.
The apartments themselves are severely outdated and just to show you how frequently they keep up with pest control, a neighbor recently was bitten by a brown recluse spider on his patio and almost lost his hand. If you know brown recluse then you know how extremely severe their bites are and the damage they can cause. Inside the apartments it is roach city, even if you keep your apartment clean with Lysol and Clorox. They will still be dancing La Cucaracha inside your apartment with you in it. Run don't walk from these apartments.
