  • After attending last week's Yelp Event at Grandview Bakery, I made sure to do a little late evening shopping in the bakery. I really like that the shop is quite large and has the ability to have a retail space and an event (and hopefully, in the future, class?) room. I was impressed by the amount of items carried by the bakery and would definitely drive out of my way to purchase melting chocolate, chocolate molds (a HUGE selection), and cupcake decorative toppings (such as glitter) from here. Not only do I like to support local businesses but the selection of these items in particular are so much better than the big box chain competition. There were so many tasty treats to purchase that I had a tough time deciding. Finally, I settled on a peanut butter brownie, french toast cupcake, and chocolate peanut butter cupcake. Unfortunately, since the Yelp event was based on creating and eating sweet treats, I didn't try the items that I purchased until a day or two later. To give a truly accurate review of quality, I should have tried the items the evening that I purchased them. However, a couple days after purchasing, the brownie was still very rich and moist. I thought the ratio of brownie to toppings was just right, and it was an item I would definitely purchase again. The cupcakes were both tasty, but unfortunately, the cake wasn't at its peak freshness. After a day of refrigeration, the little cereal pieces topping the french toast cupcake were also a bit stale. I would definitely recommend this bakery though and hope that I can return soon to try their baked goods at the peak of freshness!
