| - After reading several reviews, I feel the need to set the record straight. My husband and I have eaten at Verona Chophouse on several occasions....as matter of fact....we're going there tonight.
We've had the Sunday Brunch a few times, which is adequate. I can't understand why they would put out antipasti for breakfast, but whatever. The omlettes were very good and the chef was most accomodating and friendly. Same at the carving station. All said, for an infrequent or special occasion, the cost is reasonable. Just like other restaurants, there will be dishes that you do not like or are not served in the matter you think it should be served (too cool or too hot, etc).
The main menu items have some hits and misses, just like other restaurants. I have ordered the gnocchi a few times and never got consistency.Sometimes overcooked, sometimes undercooked and cool in the middle. Depends on who is in the kitchen. Ask the waiter her opinion and she will give you the skinny. Believe me, they all know. Someone did not like the minestrone on one review, but I find it very good and the salads are like they are just picked. The calamari are delicious while they are hot and crispy, but don't try to take any home. Once cold, they never crisp up again and are greasy. The meatballs are the size of tennis balls and about as tasty. They are too big and dense and are hard to cut.. Stay away from the spaghetti and meatballs. Try the salmon or beef instead. Delicious! Stay away from the parmesan chicken too.
The desserts were surprising. Portions were large enough to share. Creme brule had no flavor. Stick with spumoni, cheesecake, or chocolate cake.
Of course, this is one person's opinion and tastes vary. My only disappointment is that they have discontinued the seafood selections that were offered a few months ago. They were absolutely delicious! I had rockfish and my husband had mahi-mahi. Additionally, we found out that the Verona Chophouse will soon disappear and another ethnic restaurant will be taking its place. Too bad. The Chophouse menu will be missed.
