| - This is the second time I've stayed at the Inn. Last year, I was in Phoenix on business and wanted to stay near where I used to live in Fountain Hills. This year, I had a stressful business matter and immediately booked a room at the Inn again. I used to stay at Scottsdale Princess but the prices are so ridiculous that I opted for the Inn. I have not been disappointed. My room was spacious with a private deck to a view of the night lights in the distance below. Very clean, with a comfortable bed, tv, couch and table, and work table. Bathroom had double sinks, hair dryer, jetted tub and large shower. Loved the Italian soaps (orange scented). Wifi worked well. My room had a coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. (Fry's Supermarket is just up the road. I stocked with Fiji water, Chobani yogurt, bananas, and apple juice.) Mornings I drove down Shea Blvd., to Frank Lloyd Wright and a few miles up that road is a Starbucks, where I could get snack packs of sliced apples, cheese, nuts and crackers.) If you want comfortable peace and quiet, this is the place. The front lobby accommodates just about every request, including a massage if you want one. There is a pool on the premises. There is a well-tended golf course next door, with a club house for breakfasts and lunches. I had a club sandwich that was terrific, and reasonably priced.
Several nights, I treated myself to one of the best steak dinners (take out) at Blue Adobe Santa Fe Grill (just off Shea Blvd., on Frank Lloyd Wright). I had the Tucamcari tenderloin (without the jalapeno sauce), fries and julianne carrots and zucchini). Excellent! What a treat to take back to my room at the Inn and watch a movie.
I stayed for five days, over a weekend. One thing I discovered on this trip was that the golf course club house now hosts weddings on Fridays and Saturdays. Saturday's evening wedding reception had music playing that I wouldn't want to hear all the time, but in my room, I didn't hear it.
Fountain Hills is a sleepy town that boasts the world's highest fountain. By 8pm, the town is pretty dead. But if you want night life, it's just a 15 minute drive down Shea Blvd. to Scottsdale (be careful to stay under 50mph at around 120th Street - photo radar).
I love Inn at Eagle Mountain. It sits against a hillside overlooking the desert and surrounding residential (most are gated residential estates), facing Mesa and its jewel-like night lights in the distance at night. Fountain Hills has no street lights, so if you drive at night, you'll notice the stars are much more visible.
There is something restful and special about this place, and I will always stay here when I come to Phoenix/Scottsdale. The price is reasonable. The staff is friendly and accommodating. It's truly a hidden gem!!
