| - I'm a good ol' southern boy born and raised in NC. The food I had tonight at New South Kitchen & Bar scratched my homegrown itch.
Walking in we were greeted and quickly seated. The style is modern southern. Classy, but not stuffy. Our server was prompt and pleasant and reviewed the specials with us. I opted for the pork cutlets with bacon and tomato jam. I ordered a side of collard greens to go with.
While waiting fresh biscuits and whipped butter was served. They were light, fluffy, and delicious. I could have been happy with a basket of biscuits for my meal.
The cutlets arrived next, and they looked wonderful. Two thin cutlets were stacked and topped with mushrooms, diced country ham, bacon and tomato jam, and a thin brown gravy. The dish looked wonderful, and tasted even better. The pork was cooked perfectly. The bacon and tomato jam was so savory and made a nice addition to the pork. My side of collard greens was perfect too. They were seasoned very well and didn't need any extra salt, pepper, or vinegar. They were soft but firm, not mushy.
I will definitely return to New South Kitchen & Bar. Their menu has lots of items I'd like to try. I give this one 5 stars y'all.
