| - I'm a local, but I needed a place to stay for a few days. And I was looking for the least creepy place in my price range, so I ended up here, and overall I think it was good for the price. If you're even slightly picky about hotels, this is not the place for you. I have a whole list of cons in my head, and don't even know where to start but to be honest, if I was strapped for cash and needed a place to stay again, I wouldn't really mind coming here again. The bed was comfy + I really didnt get all the noise other reviewers seemed to get. It was really quiet, in my opinion. I was actually surprised at how quiet it was since the hotel is right on Bell Rd which gets pretty crowded and loud in the day, but noise wasn't really an issue at all at night.
Pros:
-comfy bed
-very friendly staff
-clean rooms
-everything worked great in the room (good shower, awesome A/C, refrigerator worked, flat screen tv worked well-only about 30 channels though, didn't use the microwave but it seemed fine and in working shape)
-awesome location! Outback steakhouse, a bbq joint, taco bell, pizza hut, walmart, a hookah restaurant, a lot of breakfast joints and tons of other restaurants close by.
-hotel guests get free passes to the LA Fitness across the street, which I thought was pretty cool.
Cons:
-the whole hotel had a really bad smell this morning when I went down for breakfast. I didn't notice it when I checked in the day before, so the bad smell might have been a random weird occurrence. But the lobby smelled like rotten eggs (and there were no eggs served for breakfast, so I have no clue what it was!) and the 3rd floor hallway smelled a lot like feet. Kind of had a dirty locker room smell. No one else seemed to be awake when I was up, so again I have noooo clue where the smells were coming from on the 3rd floor either! But i didnt notice any of it in the on the first day I arrived. But the smoke smell in the hallways are very very strong, so just be prepared for that if you're sensitive to smells. That was one smell that never went away!
-the breakfast was average for cheap hotel breakfasts, i guess. Not much laid out, some muffins, cereal, yogurt, and juices. Nothing too appetizing, but oh well, it IS a free hotel breakfast, so you get what you get. But my biggest complaint about this wasn't really about taste but that my apple juice had like a shimmer on top of it. I didn't notice it until I got back to my room, but it was sort of like a shimmer you would get with greasy utensils or dishware, which led me to think that maybe the juice jug wasn't cleaned well or it was stirred with something not super clean. Idk, All I know is I've never seen a grease shimmer on juice before. It grossed me out a lot, so I threw it out the minute I noticed it. The bagels + muffins were okay. Not great, but I usually try to stick to just yogurt when it comes to hotel breakfasts anyways- mostly just because I know what I'm getting and i know no one else has touched it, haha.
-Wifi wasn't great. It worked, but I would have to pause and wait for youtube videos to load and it always took foreverrrrr to load. Also, I couldn't get it working on my laptop, for some reason, but it worked on my ipad fine (just ridiculously slow).
Overall: would I stay again? Yes. But mostly just because, for the same price, you'll be hard-pressed to find better nearby. It's a decent place to crash for a few nights, if you need an affordable place to stay and aren't super picky/demanding of hotels.
I think this place could be a whole lot better with some remodeling, attention and care.
