  • Was on the hunt for some synthetic leather upholstery, so I called a taxi company and a limo company to ask to be referred to an automotive upholstery supplier in town and Santa Barbara Upholstery & Supplies was quickly recommended. Stepping into the store I was pleasantly surprised by walls and walls full of hundreds of rolls of different vinyl and synthetic leathers. The prices are significantly less than what I was able to find online, and Damian (the son of the owner) was very helpful in guiding us through the inventory. We ended up choosing a synthetic leather that was $10/yard, half the price of what I saw on popular upholstery websites. Paying tax is OK when you don't have to pay for 'oversize' shipping! (Standard rolls of upholstery are 4.5' wide.) Will definitely keep this place in mind when in need for vinyl/leather for more home or automotive projects. The upholstery here is marine-grade (OK to use on boats) - they even had a type of vinyl that was too thick for our purposes (would have been a bear to install), so we went with the slightly thinner variety. Cool store!
