| - I had high hopes for this place. The atmosphere is very cool--they certainly embrace the Irish pub feel. There is a lot to look at and the overall vibe is very down to earth and a place I would love to hang out. Also, the food we ordered was fantastic and they had a nice selection of beverages.
The service on the other hand... yikes! I'm willing to try anywhere more than once if it was solely the service that made it a poor experience, but wow this one was a doozy. We went in for what we thought was happy hour. We had a group of six, but only three of us were there at the start. The place was packed. We saw two smaller tables near each other, and asked an employee near by if she knew of a place that would fit six people or if we could push the tables together. She told us to push the tables together and walked away.
Our server acted like we were bothering him from the moment we arrived. I'm not sure how it happened, but we thought their happy hour went from 4-7p. It was actually from 3-6p and we arrived about 10 minutes to 6. We sat down, checked out the drink menu and even specifically asked the server if certain drinks were included in the happy hour. He confirmed. It was very obvious that we thought we were there for happy hour. Totally our mistake, but I cannot believe he didn't have the decency to correct us. We all ordered drinks and I asked for a water as well. Drinks came, no water. We ordered the appetizers that we thought were half off and I tried for my water again. No dice.
When our food came out, a different waitress brought over our food. I asked her for a water and she so kindly brought it for me. That was after we asked for it 3 TIMES! My fiance and friends also asked for waters and were never brought them. They had to ask the server that brought their food as well. This goes for the same with plates and silverware/napkins. It didn't stop there. People at my table sat there at least 15 minutes with an empty glass. I guess the waiter didn't really do anything awful, he was just generally an unpleasant person. When it came time for checks, that was a whole other story. We had mentioned from the start that we planned to split by couples. Apparently, this was incredibly confusing and our server had no idea what each person ordered. It was a mess. The checks had to be re-printed at least 3 times. And obviously, this was where we realized that we missed happy hour. We were just told, nope... it's 3-6. ha ha. Okay... thanks! The funny thing is, we probably would have spent a great deal more money had we known. We would have purchased off of the dinner menu and not just the appetizers, and I most certainly would have ordered a different drink.
I was very disappointed with my experience here and I'll be sure to let others know. I might be willing to try it again some day because the food was definitely good. We are just new locals looking for a regular happy hour spot... guess this wasn't it.
