| - This review is for my second time at Spring Valley Hospital. First visit for high blood sugar was fine. I received professional care. Nurses were all great. The second visit was a horror story. Initially I was treated quickly. I had a blood sugar reading of over 500 and lab result of 900. They started treating me with IV fluids and Insulin drip. I was to be admitted to ICU. A ICU nurse was assigned to my bed in ER. This began at 5am. At 730PM they took a blood glucose reading of 378. This is when they got too busy and forgot about me. They had other emergencies, rolled my bed into hallway and left me there. It took them 3 hours after I told them I never received my insulin to finally get it. They told me they were waiting on doctors orders who they could not reach. Then I was told there are no beds available so I would remain in a hallway bed, many others were in hall way vomiting and requesting help. Not receiving the insulin for 3 hours was a clear medical malpractice. It was a life threatening situation and could have turned into DKA, coma and death. No one ever came by to check on me, no one could answer why they over looked my required insulin injection. They did apologize, and the nurses who I spoke with were all very nice but said they could do nothing without doctors orders. There were other doctors in the ER and they should have asked them for authorization. I left the hospital after I told them I would not stay. They wanted me to leave against medical advise, I refused and told them they were not giving me any medical care. I also told them that all was documented in their electronic records, the exact time my blood was tested, the 378 at apx 7pm, and then no insulin until 11pm. Totally unacceptable, an clear example of medical malpractice and incompetence. When my admitting doctor was reached he agreed I could be discharged since they had no place for me, and care clearly was not available.
