| rev:text | Ten Park Lanes is the only bowling alley where you will see the following co-existing in harmony: 8-year olds, celebrating their birthday, along with the senior bowling league, and the after-work crew, enjoying moonshine cocktails and rocking out to a band.
Oh, and the only bowling alley where you can get some tasty BBQ.
Unlike those other trendy bowling places (like Strike City), TPL makes everyone feel welcome. You're not going to have some posh looking woman give you the once-over before you rent shoes. The lanes themselves are pretty traditional, but the décor in the bar and dining areas is retro cool. You can play cornhole outside on the patio, or play the claw machines.
What really surprised me, is the food. It's is much better than the standard hot dog and greasy fries fare at most run-of-the-mill bowling alleys.
Standouts: The Grandma's Salad (with blueberries, gouda, turkey and homemade sweet basil jam dressing, mmmm!) and the Carolina Greens are my two favorite salads. My husband and our friends love the pulled pork (whether it be in a slider, or on a plate) with slaw and mac n' cheese.
The 'cue is smoked on premise, which already gives this place a leg up on *some* places in town that smoke, and then reheat on premises. They also have a Mason Jar thing going on, where you can get a brownie and ice cream dessert...and a layered BBQ stacker served in a jar! (Warning: while tasty, not good for folks who don't like to mix their ingredients.)
Stick with those menu items or the 50/50 burger, which is half bacon, half beef (!!!). The only items I think I'll pass on next time would have to be the flatbreads. While they're good...having pizza places like Al's, Wolfgang Puck, Mellow Mushroom and Pizza Peel not too far away, it's hard to compete.
There are some great specials on bowling and drinks(Have the blueberry lemonade moonshine cocktail...it's so delicious and doesn't taste like there's alcohol in it! Very refreshing. ) Call ahead or check the website for details. The next time I have a group of girlfriends, or guests from out of town, I'm definitely bringing them to TPL for some fun activity time and good grub!
PS: It can be very busy on the weekends, so plan accordingly! |
