| - Good food is all about the quality and the service and both are excellent at Sue's. As soon as you walk into the store you can tell that attention to quality is important here. Most times of year you get that feeling before you even get into the store from the displays of fresh produce and plants outside on the front walk.
I also like Sue's because it's the small local owned stores that really help to build the community and drive the economy, and I think that I'm doing my bit by buying here.
I regularly buy the following from Sue's and I'm hard pressed to find better elsewhere:
- Gryfe's bagels - enough said, if you haven't tried them then you've never had a real bagel! They get them proofed frozen from Grief's and bake them in the store all day long.
- Mennonite raised chicken - Taste starts with a quality product and I can really tell the difference, more importantly, my kids can tell the difference.
- Chicken and turkey sausages - when in season, are always delicious
- Chicken pot and steak pies - Real chunks of chicken breast and steak and the crust is excellent.
- Quiches - All butter crust with wonderful rich fillings, these never last long.
- Baked goods - we don't buy a lot, but when we do we usually buy from Sue's for the selection and quality. They buy some and make some and their pumpkin pie is real, not that fake stuff you get in the supermarket!
- Pasta sauce - I like the one I make the best, but when I get lazy (happens more and more lately) I pick up a jar of their store made and it never disappoints. The store brands cannot compare, not even close.
- Produce - It's always top choice and best quality, they don't fool around here and it's very impressive
When you drop in, and I suggest you do if you haven't yet, walk around and you will see the difference between a local business where the owners have pride in their store and the normal corporate owned grocery stores.
