  • Why do I love La Lou? Let me count the reasons... I met Jessica Sexton, my colorist from La Lou, in a social setting. My hair was a disaster and not only was she cool and fun to get to know, but I believed her when she said she could help. And help she did! She's amazing. I have naturally half platinum/silver/white grey tones and half cool brown hair-Think Cruella de Ville but without her great half and half division of color. Mine is all over, random and complete opposite tones. My hair is fine and straight so there is no texture to hide outgrowth of silvery white or to disguise poorly blended, bad color. What does one do with that?! By the time I met Jessica, I had been lifted from dark brown to an over processed, lemony butter yellow with white highlights. It wasn't flattering. Hair color can often be a waiting game or needs to be fixed in stages. Other colorists had told me I had to settle for 'warmer' (read brassier) color. I knew they were mistaken and I knew I didn't have to live with bad color, but how would I find my hair savior? Then I met Jessica. Phew! In only one appointment, Jessica restored a more natural, flattering light brown that gave my hair balance, perfect blending of the mess she was handed and a more flattering tone for my skin. it was light enough to let some previous highlights shine through but dark enough to look like me and look more natural. In our second appt, she not only matched the first color to the outgrowth but left a fading, soft lightening toward the ends and in strategic places throughout. Not quite sombre because it is more natural and flattering than much of what we see in ombre or sombre. It might even be in supermodel expensive hair color territory, if I looked like a model at all, which I don't. She's Just Wonderful! And did I mention her prices are ridiculously fair. Tip her well! She's worth every dime. And I doubt you could have as vexing and unforgiving hair and color as I put in her hands... As for the rest of the staff and the space - everyone is friendly, warm, efficient, polite. The staff is classically cool, all sporting great hair and personal style. The clients represent all ages and types of hair and the team seem to send everyone off happy and looking great. The salon is an inviting, great space and they sell only the best product lines. I had to leave my previous stylist (in Chicago), after 24 years, when I moved to the Valley. I feel so lucky to have met Jessica and after four or five goes with other colorists in town, I am thrilled I found my new home at La Lou.
