I bookmarked Ice Pan right after my last trip to Vegas two years ago since I couldn't believe I missed this place when I passed thru Harrah's last time. Situated on the 2nd floor towards the monorail station of Harrah's Casino, immediately hang a left at the top of the stairs. (For reference, Harrah's is right across the street from Ceasar's Forum Shops and the Mirage.)
Ice Pan makes your ice cream or sorbet from scratch right in front your eyes. So it takes time. ALOT OF TIME. I was on vacation so I was all comme ci, comme ça about it. You get to watch all the ice cream "action" going on at the very least. So if you're pressed for time this is not the place for you. I waited almost half an hour JUST to place my order. Was it worth it? YES!
First you pick a flavor, then you pick a base, and then your toppings and size. A small cup is around $6.
I went the seasonal route and chose the green grape soymilk ice cream with no topping and although a recommended topping of strawberries was made I wanted it plain jane. I've never seen or heard of using fresh grapes in ice cream before and the idea of using it in ice cream didn't even occur to me.
I saw about 1/3 cup of soymilk, & a cup of whole fresh green grapes go into my mixture. They then take a hand blender to it before it's poured onto this below freezing ice pan where the base cream is mixed & whacked with extreme vigor until ta-da.......you get ice cream!
Green grape ice cream just sounded so unusual I had to try it. It was good! Top 10 good. It was so rich & creamy I couldn't believe it was made with soymilk. You get the taste of fresh grapes in every delicious bite. So refreshing. Felt healthy and sinful at the same time. One of life's many contradictions.
If you have dietary restrictions let them know and they are more than happy to make recommendations based on what your needs and likes are. That's pretty cool! I would definitely go back again and try something different.
