Large "suite" style rooms made traveling with 2 teens and another mom easy and gave us some extra space and privacy. There's an opaque glass divider that separates the beds and the small sofa/desk area. The rooms are renovated and feel newish. Thx to Yelp and TA, I knew to reserve a room on the river-side, so the train whistle we heard periodically was not an issue in our room!
Location over the Hot Metal Bridge (love that name!) is great, walking distance to upscale Southside stores (Urban outfitters, REI, sur la table) and restaurants (e.g. Cheesecake Factory) and not a bad drive to Pitt (14 mins in am traffic). Breakfast was decent! Sausage patties and the hotel-chain eggs one day, a potato casserole another day... oatmeal, breads, muffins and fresh fruit. Also sliced cheeses and cold cuts. Tip: front desk said they are getting approvals for happy hours -maybe complimentary?- in near future.
One observation- the vibe of the staff felt less professional than at other similar chains. Nice enough, but sketchy looking security guard and uniformed maintenance guy walking the hallways made me wonder about the security, and 'how did Marriott hire these guys?'
