| - Currently, my girlfriend and I are looking into getting our CCW. We decided to check out The Gun Store to try a few guns that we might like to purchase. We looked at the website but didn't get a lot of information about what we wanted. Actually, the website was a little misleading.
As soon as we entered, we were promptly greeted. I explained that we were looking to try some handguns but the website only mentions huge packages. She nicely explained everything we needed to know and helped us with our selection.
Some things to be aware of...
1.) The Gun Store requires lead free ammunition. She stated that it is not sold everywhere, so it is easiest to buy there but not necessary. We don't have our own handguns so this wasn't a problem for us; however, be aware if you are bringing your own.
2.) Even though the website does not list everything, you can select options not listed in the packages.
We were able to select two handguns (Springfield XDm and Glock 43 were our choices!). We each shot ten rounds from each pistol (total of 40 rounds) for $60. This was our first experience and Mike showed us everything we needed to know. The $60 included rental of the two handguns, the private lane, two targets, eye protection, ear protection, 40 rounds, as well as the instructor.
The only thing I feel we missed out on is loading of the weapon. We are very new to this and it would have been great for them to teach us this! Mike explained that they are short staffed and that's completely understandable.
Mike also helped us with general question regarding our options for concealment. Suggested different models and the reasons for those selections. This was really helpful!
After we make our purchases, we will definitely be returning for practice. They also offer CCW classes which we will probably attend at The Gun Store!
