  • We booked this hotel again (via Hotwire) and were happy with our overall experience! Would highly recommend. Personally, we may try to book at Shangri La down the road next time though. The customer service is five star all the way! Everyone from the doorman, valet, room service, front desk, concierge, bag delivery is gracious and professional. We were first assigned a room on the 22nd floor but after doing a quick walk-thru determined it was a bit small. We called downstairs to the front desk to inquire if the room we stayed in last time was available. Front desk manager personally showed us to our next room and we were extremely happy with it. (room 2009 was our second room that we really liked!) Only bad experience we had was the fire alarm going off at 2:30am Saturday. The alarm came through loud speakers in the rooms and went off for about 15 minutes until someone came on to announce that the reason is being investigated. Then we heard fire trucks and after another 10 minutes the fire chief came on the speaker and announced that they are investigating the reason on the 8th floor and to please stay in your units! Eeek! Eventually it was determined that it was a false alarm and the next morning we received a note delivered under our door apologizing for the inconvenience. Can't fault them too much -figure this kind of thing happens from time to time! Per usual, concierge was extremely helpful to us! We were looking for dinner suggestions at 6pm on Saturday and stopped on our way up to our room to ask for some advice. She suggested three restaurants and after looking them up and checking out their menu we decided on Cactus Club Cafe. Concierge was able to help make reservations for us, being that it was such a busy night. Phew! And we had a great experience for dinner. As far as comfort level, we both decided we got pretty bad night's sleep because the bed was too lumpy. I didn't care for the sheets, either. I'd be curious to see what the fabric is. They could have been cotton Sateen sheets but to me, they felt like they were a polyester blend which is extremely uncomfortable. Could not regulate my body temperature in them and they clung to me too much. Definitely prefer 100% cotton sheets. The bathroom was very clean and updated superbly. Nothing dirty or dingy about it. It's also extremely large. The shower is quite large, as is the bathtub. Wetbar was also nice -100% stocked each day. Housekeeping is superb -they keep the room clean and even go so far as to organize our junk laying around the room and in the bathroom! We never were in need of anything -spare tissues were supplied as well as toilet paper and water bottles. Love the chocolates, too -and I'm a chocolate snob! Valet is great -they had our car waiting for us when we came downstairs five minutes after calling the front desk. We've stayed at hotels in the past where the wait for your car would be 20 minutes (i.e. Detroit) ...I do think my battery may have died, though. Potentially valet left my lights on. My car's settings had all been reset when we got in to drive away. No big deal -we made it home safe and sound! Would highly recommend staying at the Trump! He may or may not make for a great president, but one thing's for certain -he builds chic, classic hotels!
