  • Literally one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. My boyfriend had a conference for work and I tagged along. I thought it would be fun to treat ourselves to a lovely dinner. I have not previously eaten at a restaurant with a Michelin star. So I made reservations for 7:45 on a Friday evening. A wrench was thrown when my boyfriend's conference ran long and a networking event included a catered dinner. I figured we would just work it out. I arrived at 7:40 and was told it would be a few minutes so I sat at the bar. The bartender was the highlight of the evening, a very nice lady who mixed me a killer cocktail. My boyfriend soon joined me at the bar. Now, I don't mind waiting a bit for a reservation, some times these things come up. However, we were left waiting for over 30 minutes and only when I shot a look at the host like "what is going on?" did he come over and complain that the people already paid but haven't left yet. I thought that was unprofessional on his part. I just wanted to make sure we hadn't been forgotten about. Finally we were seated and our waiter came over. He says "oh I'm told you're in a hurry tonight". I mean, one of the first things out of his mouth. I'm assuming this came because the host was pissed that I had questioned him after waiting over 30 minutes for a reservation. It just started the meal on a bad note. My boyfriend ordered an espresso and a cocktail and I looked at the menu. The waiter came back to drop off the drinks and I decided to order. I said that I wanted to order the signature tasting menu with the sommelier pairing. Then I said something to the effect that my boyfriend wanted to relax and enjoy his beverages before choosing something. Now, the already strained relationship between our server and myself implodes. He tells me that the whole table HAS to get the tasting menu or I cannot order it. Well my boyfriend simply cannot eat six courses after already having dinner. The waiter walks away and I'm nearly in tears. I strongly considered just leaving but my boyfriend could see how upset I was so he said we'd just buy two tasting menus and just only have them bring out one for me. The waiter returned and we told him what we'd like to do and then suddenly his tune changed. I guess it's a little embarrassing when your patrons are forced to pay for food that won't leave the kitchen. So he allowed me to purchase the tasting menu and my boyfriend was able to get an appetizer because "the chef wouldn't know". Later in the evening, he asked if he wanted more food so obviously what he told us earlier was a lie. As for the food, it was mediocre. I enjoyed the first course with caviar. The tuna tartare had much too much sesame oil. The sea bass was delicious. The lobster pot pie was way overrated. There was two small little morsels of lobster and they were way overcooked, like total rubber. It was not good. The steak was decent but was not served warm enough because the fat was starting to congeal. I had wanted to substitute out the apple pavlova for the pbj dessert which the waiter said I could do. However, I was still served the pbj dessert which I did not care for because I don't like pbj. So I spent about $400 between drinks, food, and tip. I felt like I was talked down to the whole evening and my business was not appreciated in the least. I will not be returning EVER. The food is not worthy of any Michelin stars and the waitstaff needs attitude adjustments.
